Spili lies in the middle of the Rethymno region, 27 km south of the town of Rethymno, on the main road to Agia Galini and the south coast. It is easy to reach by car, and buses stop in the village as well.

From the airports
The two nearest airports are Chania (CHQ) and Heraklion (HER). Both are roughly the same distance from Spili:
- Chania airport: approx. 100 km, about 1 h 30 min by car via Rethymno.
- Heraklion airport: approx. 110 km, about 1 h 30 min by car via Rethymno.
Distances and times are approximate and depend on traffic and stops.
From either airport, follow the national road along the north coast to Rethymno. There, take the exit for Spili / Agia Galini and head south. Spili is about 25 minutes from Rethymno.
By car
A rental car is the most flexible way to get here and to explore: the beaches of the south coast and the nearby gorges are 15–30 minutes away. The road from Rethymno is a main road, with some bends as it climbs into the hills.
Parking: there is free parking right outside the house.
By bus
KTEL buses on the Rethymno – Agia Galini route stop in Spili. The bus stop is about 200 m from Fontana Leone, so you can easily walk with your luggage. Timetables change between summer and winter, so please check the current timetable on the KTEL Chania–Rethymno website before you travel.
Coming by bus from an airport usually means changing buses (for example in Chania or Heraklion, and in Rethymno), so allow plenty of time.
By taxi or transfer
If you are not renting a car, a taxi or a pre-booked transfer is the most relaxed option. Book in advance, especially for late arrivals.
